The total number of properties sold in Swindon throughout 2025 has fallen quite dramatically across all house types. Semi-detached homes in particular appeared to be far less popular than they were in the same period in 2024—56% fewer houses were marked as sold by the end of August 2025. 

Flats and detached houses experienced similar declines in popularity amongst buyers, with 33% and 29% drops respectively, according to Home.co.uk data. This hasn’t been particularly good news for sellers in the Swindon area as they battle for the attention of fewer buyers on the open market. However, the houses that did sell during that period spent less time on the market than those in 2025—detached houses sold 25% quicker this year than they did last year—so it’s still possible to find the right buyer if you’re prepared to wait up to 100 days or so.

ONS data shows us that first-time buyers paid an average of £224,000 for a house in Swindon over the past year, which was only a slight increase of 1.3% versus 2024.
