What experience do you have in property?

After graduating from university in 2006 with my law degree, I fell into my first property role within a law firm & quickly discovered my love for residential conveyancing — particularly the varied workload and the never-ending twists that conveyancing transactions bring.

Nineteen years later, I’m still working in property!

While working and studying in my spare time, I qualified as a CILEX Lawyer in 2011 with a distinction in Residential Conveyancing.

My clients have included large residential landlords, property builders, and developers of green and retirement homes. In more recent years, I’ve worked with lifetime mortgage funders and borrowers.

Prior to joining TPBC, I was raising my young family while working as a self-employed Consultant Travelling Lawyer for various equity release law firms, visiting borrower clients in the comfort of their own homes.

What’s your role at The Property Buying Company?

CILEX Lawyer assisting our in-house Solicitor, Kirsty.

Why is your role important to the company?

I’ll be assisting our in-house Solicitor with the day-to-day running of our property acquisitions and disposals, ensuring a smooth & efficient process for all involved.

What’s been your proudest moment in the job?

I have a few! Promotions to manage and mentor teams of lawyers and paralegals have been proud moments.

In my prior role, I took the plunge and set up my own business. Through networking & existing connections, I secured several consultancy contracts with equity release law firms. My main role was as a Travelling Consultant Lawyer, assisting borrowers — often going through difficult times in their lives — with their lifetime mortgage documents. Using my property experience to guide people through their transactions, and receiving such incredible feedback, was both humbling and rewarding.

What’s been your most challenging moment?

There were many plates spinning while being self-employed and raising a young family — not to mention the period when this coincided with the 2019/20 pandemic!

What are your hobbies outside of work?

Raising a family, including a neurodiverse child, takes up a lot of my time, but we enjoy outdoor activities such as mountain biking and camping together.

I love to travel, socialising with friends and good food and wine. I also enjoy reading, running, swimming, and yoga.

What three words would your colleagues use to describe you?

Approachable, pragmatic, and compassionate.
