Daniel Tomlinson is a member of our Property Consultants team and is actually the Team Leader, tasked with keeping a lid on the rowdy bunch. He’s one of the longest-serving members of the team so is extremely knowledgeable in everything property and knows the ins and outs of how everything works – so if you want something to get done quickly, Dan’s your man!
We did actually ask him for more information about himself, and his answer was “34, 6ft 2”, tall, dark and handsome, haha!”, we’ll let you take what you will from that!
What experience do you have in property?
I actually started however working as a sales expert in a Jewellery & Watch shop, so a slight switch in career, but what it did teach me which has been extremely valuable to my progression and success at The Property Buying Company is the importance of being friendly, understanding and most importantly listening to what the customer needs and wants.
After that role, I joined The Property Buying Company (TPBC) which was back in 2017, and my initial focus was to soak up and learn as much about the property industry as I possibly could from the more senior members of the team. Property was always and still is something that I’m extremely interested in – I’m constantly reading, learning and keeping on top of what’s happening in the market and latest industry trends.
What’s your role at The Property Buying Company?
My role is the Property Sales Consultant Team Leader. I started as a Junior Property Consultant and quickly worked my way up the ladder to managing the Property Consultants team. We’ve got a fantastic team of really knowledgeable and experienced individuals, but there’s always more to learn & pass on, and it’s my job to ensure that we’re giving every customer the same quality of service that should be expected of the company and really going to the extra mile to help them achieve the sale they require.
Why should customers want to deal with you (what makes you special)?
It’s quite a tricky one to answer about yourself! But I’ve been told by others that I have a very calming voice that makes people feel at ease. Selling your property can often be a stressful experience, and everyone’s situations different, it’s my job to alleviate that stress and make the process as simple as possible.
What’s your proudest moment in the job?
I want to say it’s probably getting the “The Complicated Deal of the Year Award” which is aimed at rewarding the member of staff who is able to go above and beyond to help assist a sale that looks extremely complicated from the outset – in this particular scenario it was an inherited property with a lot of moving parts!
What’s been your most challenging moment?
I can imagine I have a similar challenging moment to many, I would have to say it was COVID and having to work from home. Managing the team, that are naturally very collaborative, from home is extremely tricky – but we managed it, and despite the difficulty, I’m extremely proud of how we dealt with it and helped our customers through a really tough time.
What are your hobbies outside of work?
I’m really big into my sports, particularly Football but I also enjoy Tennis and Golf. I’ve also started recently going to the gym, and fingers crossed, I’ll stick with it! Aside from that, I’d say my main hobbies are spending time with my lovely partner, son and my dog.
What three words would your colleagues use to describe you?
Funny, happy and fat.
