Hi I'm Cameron & I'm a member of the Accounts team at The Property Buying Company. I went straight into work after my school years and want to push myself to help not only the business but also the people I work with.

In August 2021 moved into my first home with my partner and now our kitten called Loki. I therefore recently went through the property process during covid so can understand that it can be different to the way we normally expect but know as a company we will do everything to help you through it.

I started my accounting career in a different way too many others as when I started my qualifications I was also working as a bartender full time. I then took a slight turn off the road and became a trading analyst in a gas firm. This helped me improve my business and financial management skills, from here I moved on to be an assistant accountant and was able to further my knowledge in this role.

In November 2021 I joined the Property Buying Company as an Assistant Accountant and have a vision to push myself and make sure that the customers are always one of our main priorities as that is how I will achieve my goals to go as far as I can in a finance role.

What experience do you have in property?

Although I have no direct experience in property itself, I have been studying Accounts since I was 18 which is the point, I started my qualification I passed my first year then took a year break due to my change in role. I then spent 11 months as an assistant accountant in a gas firm where I was able to start to form a further layer to my account’s knowledge and skills. Fast forward a few years and I am now an assistant accountant at The Property Buying Company and continuing to study my accountancy qualifications with the aim of getting as far as I possibly can!

What’s your role at The Property Buying Company?

I'm essentially the link connecting the customers and suppliers, making sure everyone is paid on time and that we are receiving money when we expect to. These are key parts in not only maintaining a healthy business position but also a good relationship with anyone else that we come in contact with. Although I don’t have contact with the customers on a daily basis my role is key to making sure that their journey is as smooth as possible and that all parties are happy at the end of the process.

Why is your role important to the company?

Well, hopefully, that goes without saying! If you didn't have me in the role, then there could be all sorts of issues with the organisation of payments leading to unhappy customers, suppliers, and well everyone!

What’s been your most challenging moment?

As I have only spent a small amount of time at the company, I think my biggest challenge is actually happening at the moment, which is getting used to the industry as I haven’t previously worked in property before. I believe it is key to get to know the industry you are working in as quick as you possibly can, as this will help me understand everything that I do and why it is important.

What are your hobbies outside of work?

I am a big sports fan including football, in which I am a Leeds United fan so anyone that knows football knows that not much is harder than being a Leeds supporter! 

I also enjoy both Formula 1 and the Golf . I am a big family person and enjoy spending lots of time with them. I like to go out for meals and drinks with my friends, and I have a love of Italian food thanks to my Italian Grandmother. I also have a very small claim to fame, you know the 99 Ice cream? Well, it came from Stefano Arcari who owned 99 Portobello Street in Scotland, who is actually from the Italian side of my family.

What three words would your colleagues use to describe you?
