What experience do you have in property?

My first step into property was working for a property maintenance company, where I learned a lot about how repairs to properties take place and the process of doing so, giving me a good foundation for planning work effectively. I later developed my skill set further by undertaking surveys on properties in rental voids for a housing association, this role aimed to ensure the property was able to meet the lettings standards for the next customer.

What’s your role at The Property Buying Company?

I am the National Contracts Co-ordinator sitting in the works and refurbishment team at The Property Buying Company. My main role is to help coordinate refurbishment works on a variety of different properties, organising, managing and getting the best standard out of our contractors in a timely fashion.

I take pride in seeing a property refurbished to an excellent standard, ready for the next owner to move in.

Why is your role at The Property Buying Company important?

Well, I like to think my role is important! Refurbishing properties often helps us turn around quickly, as long as they are completed to a high standard and in a timely manner. This can be quite a challenging thing to do, knowing and maintaining relationships with the right quality of contractor and organising the refurbishment efficiently can be stressful, but again extremely important to meeting the required deadlines.

What’s your proudest moment in the job?

My proudest moment really sticks in my mind; it was a refurb for an old company I worked for. The job was for a family who had lost nearly everything due to fire damage. The main reason was the time constraints; we had to do the whole refurb over a long weekend to ensure they could move in the following week. It was so rewarding as we were able to complete the work and ensure they had somewhere to live.

What’s been your most challenging moment?

I would actually say that my proudest moment was also the most challenging. Fire damage is difficult in itself to repair, and we had to do so in such a tight deadline of just a few days, with the added pressure of a family's livelihood depending on the work being done on time.

Very stressful, but very rewarding!

What are your hobbies outside of work?

When I'm not at work, I mainly like watching and playing sports. My main interest would be football, and I'm a season ticket holder at Leeds, which sometimes doesn't feel like the best idea, but aside from that, I also enjoy golf.
